It seems that this hotel is one that caters to large tour groups or travel agency bookings and it shows. We stayed following a cruise and it was organised by the agency providing the "package" and when we were checking in, we were part of a large country-based group and found that there were 130 checkouts on the same day, as well as a business conference happening. Our luggage was able to be held until the room was available, which was good, but when we got to our room we were met by a toilet roll that must have fallen off the cleaner's wagon after cleaning the room. Then we found that the toilet was broken. After waiting an hour after ringing reception and being told it would be fixed, I had to go to reception to find out what was going on. Seems that they got too busy. A positive was that the reception manager took control and immediately moved us to an upgraded room.... which then suffered a tripped fuse as a desk lamp triggered the fuse after 5 minutes. This time we had the maintenance guy appear 5 minutes later and he reset the fuse and took the lamp away. Not a good first impression. After that, we had a comfortable stay in an Executive room (the upgrade) which had a large, well equipped, bathroom and a walk-in wardrobe to hide your suitcases. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was a good size. The original room was also quite good and the main difference was the lack of the walk-in wardrobe and a shower rather than bath/shower. The buffet breakfast was a typical Italian one so not too bad for both cold and hot food. Overall a good stay, after the initial problems. One further observation from the check-in was that the reception staff seem to be incentivised on selling "hop-on-hop-off" bus tickets for one of the bus lines, as well as offering bookings for a nearby restaurant. Maybe if they spent less time on that and more time on their own hotel, there would be less issues and maintenance requests might be dealt with quicker.

We had adjoining rooms with our teenage sons. They were super clean and well furnished. My only qualm, and the reason for the one star off! was the lack of windows in restaurant and seating area and bar, made it a wee bit gloomy…definitely not a fault just personal preference. The staff were very efficient and helpful. Location was really good, 5 minute walk from Termini rail station so easy airport access (train goes direct from Fiumincino aeroporto). Quiet area, well, as quiet as possible in bustling Rome! Plenty wee restaurants and bars around the hotel. Breakfast was fine, not spectacular, but ample. We walked everywhere, except Trastevere which was easily reached by metro. Loved our trip. Not our first to Rome and won’t be our last. Starhotel Metropole will be our hotel of choice next time too.

My room was very nice. I especially liked the shower and extra hair dryer. The hotel was clean, and the front desk people were very friendly. The bar area was nice and the bartender was great! The breakfast buffet had alot of choices. The hotel was pretty close to the colosseum, a 15-20 minute walk downhill.

Perfect hotel stay for four days! Beautiful hotel in great location of Rome. We were greeted and checked in to great rooms by Daniela. Daniela excels in customer service and experiences. Daniela was very personable and insured our experience was first-class from the moment we walked into the Metropole. We also worked with Claudio throughout our stay. And Claudio did an exceptional job taking care of us also, and just like Daniela, always with a smile. Quiet rooms and hotel very updated/classy. Hotel is also in a great location of Rome, and we walked almost everywhere during our four day stay: to many restaurants and major attractions. The hotel also serves an incredible breakfast with many selections. Thanks to everyone at the Metropole who made our stay memorable.

3 stars for the location only because it’s walkable from the train station. We booked a family room at this location, the room was congested with no space for my 2 kids to even have a playtime, specifically the ceiling height is so low with very small windows. The lock of the room had to be repaired as well. We also did an all inclusive breakfast but it was below par as well. The room is not as depicted on their we website, plus to make us feel better they said “we are giving you the best room”. I don’t think you should say that to a customer when you have better rooms to offer, that too depicted on your website with a big window. It goes on to show how you are actually fooling the customer. Receptionist looked very moody and wanted to cater to certain audience, we say that because we literally saw them guiding others checking in with us with maps and directions. We did feel we were not treated fairly compared to others, their breakfast buffet staff doesn’t even give a smile and seem to be unwelcoming. I don’t think they had anything being offered for kids as depicted in their website or for that matter a water or a drink to their guest when they check in. We don’t think the rooms are worth of the amount that you will spend here. Look for other chains in Italy where we had amazing experience like IQ hotels or NH collections, these are real 4 star hotels and this one definitely falls in a 3 star category.
